Meeting of USAID Delegation with Mariupol City Council

A representative delegation with Oren Murphy – a constant representative of USAID in Ukraine of the Initiative Office of the transitional period of the European regional mission, Benjamin Long – the Deputy Representative of USAID in Ukraine of the Initiative Office of the transitional period of Regional mission in Ukraine, Yaropolk Tymkiv and Yana Sasina – the representatives of the project “Ukrainian initiative to strengthen public confidence” met with Mariupol City Council to discuss the international cooperation. After welcoming the delegation members, the first Deputy of the City Mayor Alexander Goltvenko told about the program of priority actions aiming to develop the city and its surrounding areas. “One of the main directions of the City council activity is to develop transport infrastructure, establishment of condominiums, as well as the Centre for administrative services where the residents are able to get comprehensive services”, - Alexander Goltvenko admitted. Besides, he informed the guests in detail about the socio-economic development of Mariupol. The first Deputy of the City Mayor declared that Mariupol had changed greatly for the last time: “Mariupol is becoming a city with a high developing economy. Our task is to increase the social standard of living. Implementing of new infrastructure reforms may help us not to stop there, to attract new investments and provide new jobs”. Constant Representative of the Initiative Office of the transitional period of the European regional mission USAID in Ukraine Oren Murphy informed about the aims of his visit: “Projects of the organization are designated both for assistance of the local authorities and support of the residents. Our goal is to reduce the effects of the conflict in your city”. At the end of the official part, the guests  were presented souvenirs with Mariupol symbols, and then the participants of the meeting discussed specific areas of cooperation.
