Mariupol shared its successful experience in the field of social services

NGO Mariupol Development Fund held a meeting-training of social workers with representatives of the Mariupol Youth Union and UNICEF.

 

The eleven representatives of the voluntary amalgamated territorial communities from different regions of Ukraine came to learn the best practices of Mariupol on social protection.

 

"Since 2014, Mariupol has launched a trend in the development of the social sphere in Ukraine. A great number of IDPs gave the boost of it after all events. It was a serious task for the city to provide an emergency assistance to thousands of people. Meanwhile, we pay attention to Mariupol residents, who appeared to be in difficult life circumstances," the deputy mayor, Ksenia Sukhova, said.

 

Ksenia Sukhova admitted that due to the well-coordinated work of all city social services, public and international organizations, Mariupol was the first city in Ukraine, which joined the international platform, where participants have an opportunity to share their experiences and be inspired by innovative ideas.

 

Having greeted the guests from Kramatorsk, Bakhmut district, Kremenchug, Zaporozhie regions, Tetyana Lomakina, Executive Director of NGO Mariupol Development Fund, shared her opinion about importance of development of new social services using the example of Family and Youth Support Centers.

 

"We are pleased to show our results. We cannot stop, we need to learn and improve the quality of our life. I am sure that the experience we have gained will be an incentive for territorial communities to new approaches in the sphere of social services, "Tetyana Lomakina emphasized.

 

In the framework of this Forum, representatives of social sphere exchanged their experience, talked about development and plans as well as the potential of their regions and cities.
