11.07.2016

The Mariupol City Council is developing an investment map of the city - one of the key tools to assess the potential and prospects of development of small and medium-sized businesses. The draft has already more than 50 production facilities in the field of mechanical engineering, food processing, pharmacy and other fields. All these give possibilities to start a business and create new jobs.

This issue was discussed at the Strategic Session on the problems of the Development of Small and Medium Business in Mariupol, which was held today in the framework of the development of the "Strategy 2021" with the participation of the representatives of business, municipality, NGO the Mariupol Development Fund and USAID experts to Ukraine Ben Long and Stephen Hadley.

"We are working on the investment attractiveness of Mariupol. The city has many facilities, a lot of areas that stand idle. We need them to launch, to give support to young business and make Mariupol the Center of East Ukraine", - said the Mayor Vadim Boychenko.

For business development in the city, a clear plan is planned to be developed to attract investors, to create a technology park, to raise the level of economic literacy of the population and to create the center of assistance for business.

Mariupol also reckons on the support and new areas of cooperation with international organizations, namely USAID Office in Ukraine, with which the city has already implemented a joint project for the opening of the Center for providing administrative services.

Entrepreneurs also put forward the idea of creating joint experience exchange programs with foreign partners.
