Safety first: UNDP turned on the lights in Mariupol suburbs

Now modern LED-lights can illuminate the road between the settlements of Sartana and Kalinivka. Since many years people can feel themselves safe.

 

This significant and essential project was developed by NGO Mariupol Development Fund and supported by the UNDP grant in the frame of the Program “Recovering & Peacebuilding” under the partnership and 50% contribution of the Mariupol City Council. Project managers of NGO “Mariupol development fund” have been implemented the project.

 

Total amount of the investments is 680 thous. UAH. The fifteen old transmission towers were replaced by new ones made of reinforced concrete. More than two kilometers of power supply lines and 110 economical lamps were plugged in.

 

Residents of settlements appreciated the project “Safety of people and support of settlements `livelihood. Illumination of streets and roads between Sartana and Kalinivka communities in Donetsk region”. Now, people can walk through the illuminated streets and the bridge without fear of breaking arms and legs, or getting into an accident.

 

Today we can think over new infrastructural projects aiming at community development. Energy-efficient outdoor lighting lamps will allow the budget to save on paying for electricity up to 165 thous UAH.

 

Leftover funds NGO Mariupol Development Fund spent to purchase 36 LED lights and had already handed them to the Sartana community. The LED lights will be installed in the streets of Sartana in 2018.
